Judy Zang to join the staff of the Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation

Judy ZangThe Board of the Goldwater Scholarship Foundation is pleased to welcome Judy Zang to the Foundation’s staff. Judy will assume the position currently held by Ms. Lucy Decher who will be retiring in June. Zang’s position with the Foundation will begin in March.

Ms. Zang has spent the past ten years serving as the Director of National Scholarships at the University of Pittsburgh. The scholarships office in Pitt Honors College recruited and coached student and alumni applicants for more than 50 different nationally and internationally competitive scholarships, averaging 70 award winners annually. During her tenure, University of Pittsburgh undergraduates won, among many others, 17 Goldwater Scholarships, 82 Fulbright U.S. Student Program Grants, 76 Benjamin Gilman International Scholarships, 45 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships and 3 Rhodes Scholarships. Pitt was named a Top Producing Fulbright Institution seven times from 2010 to 2018. Prior to her work at the University of Pittsburgh, Ms. Zang served as a fellowships advisor in the Fellowships and Scholarships Office at Carnegie Mellon University.

Zang has been an active member of the National Association of Fellowship Advisors (NAFA), co-founding and serving as an editor for the NAFA Journal. She holds a B.A. in Literature from American University and an M.A. in English from Carnegie Mellon University.
