Prairie View A&M University produced its first two Barry Goldwater Scholars in 2025: juniors Anisa Cole and Keeland Harville, both Class of 2026 biology majors with chemistry minors in the Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences. They were among 441 scholars chosen from 1,350 nominees put forward by 445 institutions — a milestone in only PVAMU’s second year of submitting nominations, both by Honors Program director Dr. Quincy C. Moore. Cole, of Richmond, Texas, was drawn to virology by studying SARS-CoV-2 in high school during the pandemic and now researches oncogenic viruses. Harville, 20, of Bartlett, Tennessee, was inspired by his own allergist while being tested for asthma and seasonal allergies, and applies bioinformatics to allergy and immunology. Both plan to combine clinical medicine with research careers.
