The Goldwater Scholar Community is a network of Goldwater Scholars, run by Scholars. It began in 2018 and now has more than 3,000 members drawn from every year of the award.
Its purpose is to connect Scholars at every career stage — through a mentorship program and Scholar directory, a webinar series on professional and career development, social events, and an annual symposium at which Scholars present their research.
Independent of the Foundation
The Scholar Community is independent of the Foundation and is not part of the federal government. It is not administered by us, and we are not responsible for its activities, its membership decisions, or the content of its website. Membership is a matter for the Community: Scholars who would like to know more, or to join, should contact it directly.
The Barry Goldwater Educational Support Fund
The Fund is a separate organization again — a registered 501(c)(3) charity. It raises money to increase the number of Goldwater Scholarships awarded each year, and it also supports the Scholar Community’s activities. The Fund is the Foundation’s nonprofit partner and the organization that receives donations to support additional scholarships.
Giving to the Fund. Gifts are made to the Barry Goldwater Educational Support Fund, not to the Foundation, and are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows. Our Donate page sets out how to give online or by post, and how to establish a named scholarship.
