Youngest daughter of Senator Barry Goldwater and the Board’s longest-serving voice for the family’s legacy. An entrepreneur and civic leader in Arizona and Southern California, she chaired the Foundation’s Board for twelve years and has served on the boards of the Air Force Academy Foundation, PBS SoCal, and the UCI Brain Imaging Center Advisory Board.

Peggy Goldwater Clay, the youngest daughter of Senator Barry Goldwater, brings more than 40 years of entrepreneurial experience and community involvement spanning public relations, marketing, sales, and fundraising. She was appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees by President Bush and chaired the Board for twelve years.

Her professional background includes part ownership and the former presidency of Goldwater’s Foods of Arizona, and the founding and leadership of Peggy Jane’s Inc. prior to its sale to Knott’s Berry Farm Foods. She has served as Executive Director of the Mission Pageant Foundation, Director of Major Gifts for the Irvine Barclay Theatre, and Director of Client Relations for the Career Company, and most recently concluded a role in community and political relations at Working Wardrobes.

In higher education and civic life, she served as a trustee of the UCI Foundation and presided over the UCI Brain Imaging Center Advisory Board for sixteen years, receiving the UCI Medal in 1996 and a UCI Alumni Association Lauds and Laurels Award in 1993. She currently holds board positions with the Air Force Academy Foundation and PBS SoCal, and previously served on the National Council of Trustees of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and chaired the board of the Children’s Bureau of Orange County.

Her honors include Distinguished Woman of the Year from the Orange County Soroptimists, Woman of the Year from California’s 70th Assembly District, Woman of Valor from the American Diabetes Association of Orange County, and recognition from the YMCA and the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County.
