Engineer and executive (B.S., industrial engineering; M.B.A., George Washington University) who led international business development for Lockheed Martin Space Systems. Founder and CEO of the consulting firm LSCW, LLC; appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2011.

Maria E. Rengifo-Ruess is the founder and CEO of LSCW, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, business development, organizational culture, personal branding, and STEM outreach. She also lectures at California State University, Monterey Bay.

Previously, she was Vice President of International Business Development at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, overseeing all aspects of international business development for the Space Systems portfolio — commercial satellites, earth-observation satellites, launch services, and civil and military space initiatives — after holding several executive positions within Lockheed Martin focused on business development, strategy, and capture management in global markets. Her earlier career included positions of increasing responsibility in business development, program management, engineering, and finance with Comsat International, Global One/Sprint International, and MCI.

Rengifo-Ruess serves on the Board of Directors of Great Minds in STEM (GMiS), where she chairs the strategy committee. She received the 2009 Pioneer Award from the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation (HENAAC) and was named one of the 2011 Most Influential Hispanics in Technology. She actively mentors young professionals and K–12 students through volunteer initiatives. In May 2011, President Obama nominated her to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and the U.S. Senate confirmed her that September.

She holds a B.S. in industrial engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and an M.B.A. from George Washington University, and has completed executive education at Wharton, the University of Virginia’s Darden School, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
